Information about Gulfstream IV

Work on the Gulfstream IV began in the spring of 1983. From its predecessor, Gulfstream III, the new business jet was distinguished by a new, lighter and easier to manufacture, wing, extended fuselage, a larger swing stabilizer, increased fuel capacity, a pilot cabin with instrumentation on multifunctional indicators and new Rolls-Royce Tau Mk 611 engines -8 61.6 kN.

The main differences from the Gulfstream III model were a lighter wing of a modified design, lengthening the fuselage, which received the sixth porthole, by 54 inches increased horizontal tail span, crew cabin with flight instruments with electron-beam indication (EFIS) and digital aviation electronic equipment.

The first aircraft rolled out on September 11, 1985, and eight days later it made its first flight. The aircraft received a certificate in April 1987 after a 1400-hour flight test program.

The length of the Gulfstream IV fuselage in the standard configuration is increased by 1.37 m, due to which the passenger capacity was increased to 14-19 people. The Gulfstream IVB fuselage is lengthened by 5.64 m, passenger capacity increased to 24 people.

Gulfstream IV in three versions is used by the US armed forces under the designation C-20. Seven 27-seat C-20F special purpose aircraft purchased by the US Air Force for VIP transportation and the transportation of goods of the highest priority; Four C-20Gs received the Navy and one – the USMC. Two C-20H purchased by the US Air Force. One Gulfstream IV was delivered to the armed forces of Botswana, Egypt, Ireland, Ivory Coast, and Venezuela, and Turkey purchased three aircraft.

Version of the aircraft Gulfstream IV, SRA-4, flies since 1988. Equipped with a cargo door of 1.6 x 2.1 m in size, a search radar and an aircraft magnetic detector (MAD) installed in the tail section, this model is designed for electronic combat support, electronic surveillance and reconnaissance, medical evacuation, urgent transfer of cargo and sea patrols, including antisubmarine (ASW).

By the end of 1991 more than 185 copies of Gulfstream IV were delivered.
