Information about Gulfstream G500
The Gulfstream G500 is later than the Gulfstream G550, and at the same time the less expensive modern modification of the famous Gulfstream V. flagship. This makes it much easier and cheaper for the aircraft, which, combined with the powerful Rolls-Royce engines, provides even a little more dynamic than the leader of the G550 family. Since the aircraft retained almost all the qualities of its predecessor and is still able to fly from Moscow to Los Angeles without additional landing for refueling, the G500 is not inferior in its appeal to the “big brother” G550. The shortening of the range affected the price of the aircraft, the G500 costs a few million less than the G550.
The Gulfstream G500 is an ultra-long-range aircraft equipped with two Rolls-Royce BR710 engines with a weight of 15.385 pounds each, with a non-stop flight range of 10,742 km. with eight passengers on board and an average cruising speed of 850 km / h. The required length of run during takeoff is only 1570 m.
Like the flagship of the Gulfstream G550 family, the G500 is certified for 19-passenger flights. Gulfstream G500 owners will enjoy a wide range of cabin choices that allow multiple locations and configurations. Each pair of seats, located opposite, is transformed into a full bed. The passenger compartment usually has 4 sections, a spacious kitchen located in the front or rear of the cabin and one or two bathrooms. The aircraft is certified for flights with 19 passengers, the G500 has no crew lounges, which can accommodate between 14 and 18 passengers.
In 2008, the Gulfstream Aerospace manufacturing plant in Savanna launched the 200th Jet of the G500 / G550 Series. Now the plane will have to undergo finishing work and painting on the Gulfstream final assembly line in Long Beach (California). Gulfstream also operates a network of final assembly lines for large aircraft in Appleton (WI), Brunswick (GA) and Savannah.
“The launch of this aircraft is a milestone for our company,” says Joe Lombardo, President of Gulfstream. “In less than five years, we have assembled 200 aircraft of the G550 / G500 series. This event is a logical testament to the hard work, dedication and high qualification of Gulfstream workers, as well as the popularity of this series of aircraft on the business aviation market.”
The G550 / G500 series was officially launched in Orlando (Florida) on September 9, 2002. For the first time in history, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued a type certificate and a G550 production license on the same day — August 14, 2003. The type certificate indicates that the aircraft was approved by the FAA, and the production license confirms that the production process manufacturer meets the standards and requirements of the Federal Aviation Administration.
The first G550 was delivered to the customer on September 17, 2003, and the first G500 received FAA certification on December 8, 2003. The customer received the aircraft on May 20, 2004. The Gulfstream G500 / G550 development team won the 2003 Robert J. Collier award given by the National Aviation Association for an outstanding technological breakthrough in the aerospace industry. In the USA, the Robert J. Collier award is the most prestigious for this field.
