Information about Dassault Falcon 8X

In 2014, Dassault presented to the public the newest model of the Falcon Jet family. And although the Falcon 8X is essentially an iteration of the famous three-engine model with an index one less than that, the extra cabin volume and the increased fuel capacity make this aircraft a completely independent competitor for universal recognition.

So, being derived from the Falcon 7X, the new model received an elongated 1 meter, 13-meter cabin and an increased range of 925 km – 11945 km, thus becoming the longest and most long-range aircraft in the entire more than half-century history of the French manufacturer.

An impressive range (with eight passengers and three crew members on board with a cruising speed of 0.8M) is the result of increased fuel capacity by 1,300 kg (due to an additional tank in the center section) and modernization of the Pratt & Whitney PW307 turbofan engines, thanks to which the thrust increased by 5 %, as well as aerodynamic improvements and new winglets.

The maximum take-off weight increased to 33 tons. Spending 14 hours in the air, the 8X will be able to transport its passengers from New York to Dubai, from Sao Paulo to Moscow, from Paris to Tokyo, and from Beijing to London. Like all current Falcon models, the 8X will be able to fly to London City airport.
The debut took place at the business aviation salon EBACE-2014 in Geneva, in May of this year, shortly after the announcement of the twin-engine Falcon 5X program. As Dassault Aviation president Eric Trappier admitted, for the first time in the company’s history, the French manufacturer launched two new Falcon programs within such a short period. Nevertheless, he expressed confidence in the success of both, adding: “I am absolutely convinced that the market will respond enthusiastically to 8X.”
Designed from scratch, the 5X differs from its counterparts in a large cross-section of the fuselage, but this has not spread to 8X. Olivier Willa, senior vice president of civil aircraft, argues that “the market was very sensitive to the size of 7X.”

Dassault places particular emphasis on the performance and economy of the 8X, noting that the three-engine scheme allows overtaking all competitors in take-off and landing characteristics in hot climates and high altitude, which significantly expands the list of available airfields.
