Information about Dassault Falcon 2000

Falcon 2000 is a long-range administrative jet aircraft developed by the French company Dassault Aviation. The Falcon 2000 is based on the Falcon 900, with a shorter fuselage of the same diameter and a slightly modified wing. Major changes affect the tail of the aircraft.

After researching the Falcon X label, Dassault officially launched the Falcon 2000 program on October 4, 1990. The engine was selected in April 1999, and Alenia became a risk partner in September 1990. The first prototype of the Falcon 2000 appeared in 1993 in Bordeaux-Merignac.

The Falcon 2000 fuselage retained a cross section of the Falcon 900 fuselage, although its length was reduced by 1.98 m. The wing was also almost identical, but the front edge of the wing was refined by eliminating the inner sections of the slats. Structurally, the aircraft was nothing new, the airframe was made of light alloys, but the proportion of parts made of composites increased significantly.

The cabin is designed to accommodate a maximum of 19 passengers, although the standard is considered to be an option with four seats in the front cabin and four seats and a double sofa in the rear cabin.

A full-time flight crew includes two pilots, the Collins Pro Line IV avionics kit with a color meteorological indicator, autopilot, a four-display electronic flight system and a Honeywell FMZ-2000 flight control system are installed on the base version.

The first prototype made the first flight on March 4, 1993. The plane was in the air for one hour and fifteen minutes. Jean Pus and Guy Mitaux-Maurouard were at the helm. By May 1993, a speed of 0.96 M was reached. The first passenger demos were shown at the Paris Air Show in June 1993. In September, the aircraft was shown at the NBAA in the USA. By this time, the plane flew 160 hours. Two demonstration aircraft appeared May 10, 1994 and July 11, 1994.

After five planes flew 1000 hours, the European JAA certificate of standard JAR25 of November 30, 1994 was received. The FAA approval was received on February 2, 1995. The first delivery to the customer (FLICAPE from South Africa) began two weeks later on February 16, 1995.

In May 1996, Falcon 2000 was approved by CAA UK for work at the London City Airport. By November 1996, 30 Falcon 2000 were under construction. April 14, 1997 Falcon 2000 was certified in Russia. By that time, approximately 39 aircraft used in 9 different countries had flown more than 13,500 hours. On December 19, 1997, Executive Jet ordered 24 Falcon 2000 for the NetJets program and subsequently became the largest customer of the Falcon 2000. By October 1998, approximately 65 aircraft were in operation around the world.
