Information about Bombardier Learjet 75

In 2012, a long-awaited moment came for operators and owners of the Learjet 45XR: Bombardier finally announced the launch of a replacement program. The new model – the Learjet 75 – will go into operation in the third quarter of 2013. The Learjet 75, with a catalog value of $ 13.5 million, on September 12, 2014 received a certificate from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). At the same time, the aircraft received a certificate from the Transport Agency of Canada and the United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Today, according to representatives of Bombardier, more than four dozen firm orders and preliminary contracts for both models have been collected. The first operator of the new aircraft will be the equity operator Flexjet, a subsidiary of Bombardier.

Glider Learjet 75 inherit from Learjet 45XR. From its predecessor, the new model is distinguished by greater energy efficiency, improved takeoff and landing characteristics, increased fuel efficiency and reduced operating costs. The aircraft is equipped with two Honeywell TFE731-40BR turbofans, 1.75 tons of thrust each. In addition, the Learjet 75 will receive improved winglets, similar to those developed for the long-haul Global 7000 and 8000. Thus, the improvement in flight performance compared to the original models is achieved due to a more powerful powerplant and weight gain due to flight navigation equipment. The Bombardier Vision cab layout includes the Garmin G5000 avionics suite with three 14-inch touchscreen displays, synthetic vision and other state-of-the-art equipment. Pilot seats and steering wheels are trimmed with leather, metal elements are chromed.

The 40-series Learjet operators often complained about the performance of these aircraft, especially in high temperature and rarefied air. Technically, remotorization is designed to solve this problem. New aircraft will quickly gain altitude directly to the FL 450 cruise level. Fuel consumption at flight level is 4√5% less than that of the original models, thanks to the wing tips. At the same time, the payload with full tanks was increased by 90 kg, and the range – by 2000 nautical miles.

Intermediate inspections are prescribed every 18 months or 600 hours of flight time. Thus, less frequent visits to the service center and fuel savings should lead to a reduction in operating costs.

Major changes will affect the design and equipment of the passenger compartment. New aircraft will receive a cabin control system developed by Lufthansa Technik for the Learjet 85, with an open architecture. Designers paid great attention to small things that make the interior comfortable and practical: compartments for storing personal digital devices in the side rail, retractable 7-inch touch screens with interior management functions, 12-inch flat panel, 12-inch monitor mounted into the partition, improved seating and, in general, a more ergonomic use of cabin space will please passengers.

Flight models 1 and 2 (Learjet 45XR and 40XR) with G5000 avionics have been performing test flights since the end of 2011. The new interior management system and interior will be installed and tested on the third sample. The fourth, equipped with new engines and winglets, will rise into the air at the end of the current year. Honeywell expects to certify 40BR by the end of the year.
