Information about Bombardier Learjet 55

The Learjet 55 Longhorn is an administrative aircraft developed by the American company Learjet (part of the Bombardier Aerospace corporation). Model Learjet 55 Longhorn was the only built aircraft from the series Learjet 50, so named thanks to an improved wing with wings, developed by NASA. Production of the first airframe began in April 1978.

The first of the two prototype aircraft, the Learjet 55, took off on April 19, 1979. The Learjet 55 contained a crew of two, located in a separate cabin, and up to ten passengers in the main cabin. In September 1986. The company announced the creation of the Learjet 55B aircraft, which had a new interior, a “glass” cockpit, improved take-off characteristics and a longer range, which expanded its scope. A year later, the creation of a Learjet 55C aircraft, equipped with “Delta Fins” keels in the back under the fuselage, was reported, providing better road stability at any speed, reducing landing speed and thus eliminating the need for one of the pilots.

Later models were an extended range 55C / ER aircraft, equipped with an additional tank located in the tail fairing and accommodating 1,175 kg of fuel, as well as the Learjet 55C / LR, which has an even greater range due to the installation of another 322 liter fuel tank behind the standard tank located in the fuselage. The typical configuration of this model is two crew members and seven passengers. By the end of 1990. It was built about 150 copies of various modifications of the aircraft Learjet 55.
