Information about Bombardier Challenger 300

Bombardier BD-100-1A10 Challenger 300 – medium transcontinental aircraft. Unlike other models, which are various modifications of the Challenger 600, the Challenger 300 was created from scratch.

Bombardier Aerospace announced the development of Continental Business BD-100 (as it was then called) at the annual NBAA convention in Las Vegas in October 1998. The program was officially launched on June 13, 1999 at the Paris Air Show. On November 19, 2000 the first wing and fuselage assembly was made. August 14, 200 1d. The first flight took place, and the certification took place at the end of 2002. The Challenger 300 made its official debut at the main airport of Orlando (Orlando Executive Airport) on September 8, 2002 during the NBAA (United States National Business Association) conference. Work with clients began in 2003.
The business jet gained fame as the most maneuverable, roomy and reliable business jet. It has several advantages: high cruising speed, economical fuel consumption, wide cabin, stylish interior, air conditioning, vibration control system, satellite communications, as well as a CD / DVD player and Airshow system.

The aircraft is equipped with modern avionics Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21. Aviation electronics kit includes a set of sensors on the toolbar, which provide information on the operation of the flight management system (Electronic Flight Instrumentation System, EFIS) and engine operation monitoring system (Engine In-Flight Condition Monitoring System, EIFCMS). In addition, there is a comprehensive multi-directional radio telemetry device to which the landing support system, autopilot system, automatic distance measurement system, satellite navigation and positioning system, electronic warning system of a possible collision TCAS II, and electronic weather monitoring radar are connected and manufactured by Rockwell Collins.

The main technical feature of the Challenger 300 is an all-metal wing without a slat with flaps on each side, which increases the reliability of the design.

Structurally, the Challenger 300 has a traditional all-metal frame. Responsible for the manufacture of the front of the fuselage, including the cockpit and control room of the Challenger 300, is Canadair (Canada). Wings are assembled at the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries plant (Japan). The Bombardier Aerospace branch in Belfast (United Kingdom) manufactures the central part of the Challenger 300 hull. The rear of the aircraft is assembled in Taiwan (AIDC), and Hawker De Havilland in Australia is responsible for the manufacture of the tail unit and accessories for the Challenger 300 powerplant.

All of the listed components of the aircraft are delivered to the Bombardier Aerospace Learjet factory in Wichita for final assembly. In addition, more recently, the full assembly of the aircraft began to be carried out at the Montreal Dorval plant in Montreal (Quebec, Canada). In the near future it is planned that he will become the main assembly point of the Challenger 300.

Challenger 300 is not only a high-speed vehicle, but also the embodiment of unique comfort and high quality. The business jet has a high cruising speed – 850 km / h and economical fuel consumption. A wide comfortable cabin accommodating 8 passengers allows a person to stand tall. On board are available: vibration control system, air conditioning, satellite communications, CD / DVD player, a set of office equipment. During long flights, the seats in the cabin are transformed into full-fledged sleeping places. The luggage compartment is located in the rear of the aircraft, and it has free access throughout the entire flight time. For ventilation and air conditioning in the cabin and the luggage compartment works the climate control system manufactured by Liebherr Aerospace-Toulouse.

Challenger 300 have a continental range of 5471 km with 8 passengers on board. The aircraft provides 39% more cabin space and 20% more range than other leading mid-size business jets.

In November 2004, the Challenger 300 aircraft set a world speed record for aircraft of its class during a flight from the city of Karsbad (California, USA) to Bangor (Maine, USA). With two pilots and eight passengers on board, the Challenger 300 flew 4,365 km in 4 hours 41 minutes at an average heading speed of 921 km / hour.

In total

Bombardier received orders to manufacture about 150 Challenger 300 airplanes, including 17 ships for its Flexjet subsidiaries in Dallas (USA) and Flexjet in Europe (Hounslow, UK), which are produced as part of a joint coordination program.
