Development

Bombardier Aerospace announced the development of Continental Business BD-100 (as it was then called) at the annual NBAA convention in Las Vegas in October 1998. The program was officially launched on June 13, 1999 at the Paris Air Show. On November 19, 2000 the first wing and fuselage assembly was made. August 14, 200 1d. Wings are assembled at the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries plant (Japan). The Bombardier Aerospace branch in Belfast (United Kingdom) manufactures the central part of the Challenger 300 hull. The rear of the aircraft is assembled in Taiwan (AIDC), and Hawker De Havilland in Australia is responsible for the manufacture of the tail unit and accessories for the Challenger 300 powerplant.
